"A modestly priced merlot from the sprawling vineyards of the Murray Valley, Deakin's 2008 vintage offers good varietal character. Spice, briar and plum aromas have attractive intensity and it tastes clean and pleasantly savoury with medium weight a soft, smooth middle and fine mild tannins. Good value. Food ideas: Weisswurst with mashed potatoes; lamb chops.
